Congratulations on choosing Trezor, the original and most trusted hardware wallet for securing your cryptocurrency. You’ve taken a major step in protecting your digital assets. This guide will walk you through setting up your new Trezor device quickly and safely.
When you receive your Trezor device, make sure the packaging hasn’t been tampered with. The box should be sealed, and the holographic sticker should be intact. Inside, you’ll find:
Your Trezor hardware wallet (Model One or Model T)
A USB cable
Recovery seed cards
User manual or quick start guide
Stickers (yay!)
If anything looks suspicious or damaged, stop and contact Trezor Support immediately.
Trezor Suite is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux. There's also a Web version, but the desktop app offers the best performance and security.
After installing Trezor Suite, follow the on-screen instructions to initialize your device:
Install Firmware: If your device is brand new, it will prompt you to install the latest firmware. This ensures you’re running the most secure version.
Create New Wallet: Select “Create new wallet” if this is your first time using Trezor.
Backup Your Recovery Seed: Write down the 12 or 24-word recovery seed on the provided seed card. This is your ONLY backup. Never take a photo, upload it online, or store it digitally.
Name Your Device and Set a PIN: Personalize your wallet name and set a secure PIN code. This protects your wallet from unauthorized access.
🔐 Important: Your recovery seed is the master key to your crypto. If you lose access to your Trezor, you can restore your funds using this seed — but if someone else gets it, they can too. Keep it safe!
Once your setup is complete, you can:
