Welcome to Trezor: Get Started with Your Hardware Wallet

Congratulations on choosing Trezor — the world’s most trusted hardware wallet for securely storing and managing your cryptocurrency. This page will guide you through setting up your new Trezor device quickly and safely. Let’s get started.

Step 1: Unbox Your Trezor

Inside the box, you’ll find:

  • Trezor device (Model One or Model T)

  • USB cable

  • Recovery seed cards

  • User manual and stickers

Please verify that the packaging is sealed and hasn’t been tampered with. Trezor devices are never shipped pre-configured.

Step 2: Go to Trezor.io/Start

Download the Trezor Suite app (available for Windows, macOS, and Linux) or use the Web Suite directly from your browser.

Step 3: Install Firmware

New Trezor devices ship without firmware to guarantee the highest level of security. Once connected, the Trezor Suite will prompt you to install the official firmware. Always verify that you’re installing from the official Trezor website.

Once installed, your device will reboot automatically.

Step 4: Create a New Wallet or Recover Existing One

You’ll be given the option to:

  • Create a new wallet: If this is your first time using Trezor.

  • Recover an existing wallet: If you’ve previously used Trezor or another compatible wallet and want to restore access.

To create a new wallet, simply follow the prompts. You’ll be guided through the process of creating and backing up your recovery seed.

Step 5: Backup Your Recovery Seed

This is the most important step. Your Trezor will generate a 12 or 24-word recovery seed, which is the only way to recover your crypto if your device is lost or damaged.

Write it down carefully on the provided cards and never share it or store it digitally. Anyone with access to your seed can access your funds.

Step 6: Secure and Start Using Your Wallet

Once your wallet is created and backed up, you can:

  • Add and manage over 1000+ cryptocurrencies

  • Send and receive crypto safely

  • Use Trezor Suite for advanced features like labeling, exchange, and portfolio tracking

For added security, consider enabling features like:

  • Passphrase protection

  • PIN code

  • Shamir Backup (for advanced users)
